Over fifty million eggs cracked on Pancake Tuesday
Over 50 million eggs will be cracked today as pancake lovers all around the world celebrate Pancake Tuesday.
According to research by the directory enquiry service 11850, the tradition of eating pancakes to mark the start of lent is over 1,000 years old.
It also found that the average person will eat two pancakes today, which means around 117 million pancakes will be devoured worldwide.
