Oscar Wilde vessel docks successfully in Cherbourg

The Irish Ferries vessel, the Oscar Wilde has finally docked at Cherbourg two days after it left Rosslare.

Bad weather delayed its arrival into the French port and a number of attempts to dock were hampered last night and in the early hours of the morning.

The ferry left Rosslare on Sunday evening at 6pm with 500 passengers on board including a number of French school students returning from a trip to Ireland.

Irish Ferries says passengers are now beginning to disembark the vessel.

One man, believed to be a member of the crew, broke his leg last night and will be taken to hospital.
