One man has died and two people are in hospital after a two-car collision in Co Louth this morning.

One killed and two others hurt in Louth collision

One man has died and two people are in hospital after a two-car collision in Co Louth this morning.

The crash happened at around 6.15am at Tully Esker, on the Drogheda to Monasterboice Road.

The 36-year-old driver of one of the cars was killed in the collision.

The driver and a passenger in the other car - both of whom are in their 30s - have been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The road is closed for a forensic examination and gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
