Olhausen workers to receive outstanding wages, but hold little hope of finding buyer

One hundred and sixty workers at Olhausen sausages have been told they will receive their outstanding wages for this week and last.

They were informed this morning that receivers had been appointed to the meat company.

All three plants in Dublin and Monaghan have ceased production.

SIPTU Organiser Colm Casserly said it was unlikely that a buyer would be found for the firm.

"We haven't been given any hope whatsoever by the receiver. He said he's going to try to sell it, but the amount of debt is so high I can't see anyone taking it as a going concern…More likely, it will be sold off piecemeal."

He said the company "had been in considerable difficulty for some time."
