Gardaí to investigate alleged malpractice at HSE-funded crisis pregnancy agencies

The HSE and the Gardaí are to investigate allegations of malpractice by some counsellors working for HSE-funded crisis pregnancy agencies.

An undercover investigation was carried out by a number of women, many involved with a pro-life campaign group.

Five women, pretending to be pregnant, went for counselling sessions at 11 different crisis pregnancy clinics across the country.

It has been claimed that in several instances some women were told to hide their abortions from their doctors, a course of action that could endanger the woman's life, if post-surgery abortion complications remain undiagnosed.

In other cases, women were allegedly told how to get an abortion pill, which is illegal here, by smuggling it into the State through the North.
