New poll shows 6% increase in support for Fiscal Treaty
A new survey shows a rise in support for the EU Fiscal Treaty.
The Red C poll in today's Sunday Business Post shows a six-point gain for the yes campaign to 53%, while support for the no side dropped by 4% to 31%.
Some 16% of those surveyed said they had yet to decide how they would vote in the referendum on May 31.
Meanwhile, in terms of party support, Sinn Féin is up two points to 21%. Fianna Fáil is also up by 2%, to 19%.
However, the coalition partners suffered losses, with Fine Gael down to 29% while Labour is down 3% to 13%.
The Sunday Business Post's political editor Pat Leahy said fear of being cut off from EU rescue funds is swaying voters in the treaty referendum.
Meanwhile, Socialist Party MEP Paul Murphy - who is advocating a no vote - said: "The only card the Government has to play in this referendum campaign is to scare people into voting yes."
