Kildare man sentenced to 10 years for stabbing cousin to death
08/05/2012 - 15:07:04A Kildare man who stabbed his cousin to death with a flick knife has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Heroin addict Shane Millea of Celbridge told gardaí he acted in self defence when he killed 33 year old Paul Harris at the Cannonbrook estate in Lucan, Co Dublin on December 2, 2010.
Mr Justice Paul Carney noted that their friendship was rooted in a deep interest in knives and that Millea had given the flick knife to his cousin as a present the day before the fatal attack.
In a letter to the court the 27-year-old said he prayed for forgiveness.
