Average age of married couples on the rise - CSO08/02/2013 - 11:45:57
Most men in Ireland are 34 when they marry, while women are on average 32.
Latest figures from the CSO, on weddings held in 2010, show those ages have both increased from lows in the 70s of 26 for grooms and 24 for brides.
In 2010, nearly 20,600 couples married - down a thousand on the previous year.
That figure is the lowest in recent years since 1998.
A total 67% of those marriages were Catholic, 29% were civil services and the rest were Church of Ireland, Presbyterian, Methodist, Jewish and other ceremonies.
July is the most popular month to marry in Ireland.
