Liver transplant success story Meadhbh planning 5km run


Leitrim teenager Meadhbh McGivern says she's hoping to be fit enough to do a 5 kilometre run next year.

Meadhbh hit the headlines last summer after a first attempt to get her to London for a liver transplant failed, due to transportation issues on the Irish side.

She successfully underwent the life-saving operation in September and since then, a HIQA report has found a number of bad decisions were made leading to the to the initial cancellation.

Meadhbh said she was feeling great and hopeed to be fit enough to do a 5km run next year.

"I want to keep my fitness levels up and hopefully run a 5km run next year," she said.
