Govt to send Irish troops to Syria as unarmed observers

A number of Irish troops are to be deployed to Syria to assist in the new UN mission in Syria.
Up to six members of the Defence Forces will be made available as unarmed military observers.
The new Supervision Mission of some 300 monitors will oversee the implementation of the ceasefire by all parties.
Dozens of people have died in small pockets of violence across Syria since the tentative ceasefire began on April 12.
