European energy legislation will be under the spotlight at an Oireachtas committee this morning.
The Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture will look at Ireland's obligations under the EU's energy policy.
Member states have set a target of achieving energy savings of 20% by 2020, but the Commission's latest estimates are that they will only achieve half of that figure.
The Committee will also examine proposals by the Commission to make certain aspects of the 2020 target binding on member states.
