The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions says it has grave concerns at some of the issues raised by the Garda Ombudsman Commission earlier, regarding possible surveillance at the GSOC headquarters.
In a statement issued following a private meeting, Chairman Padraig Mac Lochlainn said the committee feels serious questions remain unanswered.
They have decided to contact the GSOC requesting the unredacted reports by security company Verrimus and any other related information in connection with the investigation into suspected surveillance.
The Committee will also invite the Minister for Justice Alan Shatter to address it on these developments and to assess the approach he and his Department propose to take to respond to the concerns raised.
