Oireachtas committee encourages public to continue support of charities

The Oireachtas Health Committee has appealed for calm and is pleading with the public to continue to support charities.

It is in the wake of the controversies around the CRC and Rehab, as well as pay and top-ups in some services.

The Committee is now to ask all charities to appear before them to explain pay, fundraising activities and costs.

A motion was agreed at the committee and read by Chairman, Fine Gael's Jerry Buttimer.

"We, as a committee … appeal for calm from the public pending ongoing investigations in order to avoid unnecessary and unintended d collateral damage and that people would continue to support charitable organisations."
