O'Flynn 'delighted' with Creighton apology

Fine Gael's Lucinda Creighton has apologised to Cork property developer Michael O'Flynn as part of a settlement of his defamation action against her.

He sued the Junior Minister after a speech she gave to the MacGill summer school and in subsequent media interviews in July 2010 on standards in public life.

In her address she spoke out against cute hoor politics and in follow up interviews with RTE and The Irish Times she critically referred to Mr O'Flynn's attendance at a Fine Gael fundraiser at the K Club.

The developer says he's pleased with the outcome "that the damage caused to my reputation by Ms Creigthon's very public comments in her speech and subsequent interviews with RTE and The Irish Times has been recognised in these court proceedings.

"I'm delighted to have received an apology in open court."
