Ireland has the fourth highest rate of unemployment across the group of developed countries, coming in behind Spain, Greece and Portugal.

Ireland has the fourth highest rate of unemployment across the group of developed countries, coming in behind Spain, Greece and Portugal.

The OECD average unemployment rate was 7.9% in September, broadly the same rate as 18 months previously.

The Organisation puts Ireland's rate at 15.1%, in contrast to 25.8% in Spain and 25.1% in Greece.

Youth unemployment is highest in Greece at 55.6% and Spain at 54%.

According to OECD data, the current level of unemployment among young people in Ireland stands at 34.5%.
