The US ambassador to Ireland believes that if Barack Obama wins a second term in office, he will make a return trip to Ireland.

Dan Rooney said Michelle Obama has also expressed a wish to bring the couple's daughters back here after their visit last May.

The US president and the First Lady stayed less than 24 hours on the whistle-stop tour.

But Ambassador Rooney says that was long enough to make a good impression.
