Fianna Fáil say bigger farmers can afford to take cut at the expense of smaller farmers.
Party spokesperson on Agriculture, Eamon O Cuiv, says funding is disproportionately spread out and that reform of the Common Agriculture Policy must ensure a fairer distribution of funds.
The party is holding their national conference on CAP reform in Dublin this morning.
Mr O Cuiv, says reform of the policy needs to happen: "I think the first thing we need to get right is we need to make sure farming is profitable. In other words, markets support and other actions at EU level will make sure that a farmer selling any product will make a profit in the average year.
"We need to look at the distribution of the farm subsidiaries and what we have been advocating is a fairer distribution."
