An international symposium taking place in Dublin today will hear how nutrition during the first 1,000 days of a child's life can affect long term health and development.
Experts in paediatrics and nutrition will address the conference, as well as Irish health care professionals.
Aileen Regan, the medical director of Danone Baby Nutrition, hopes the 1,000 days campaign will influence future health.
"We know behavioural change does take time, but we believe that by getting the right information out to … healthcare professionals, who then will cascade it to mums and mums to be … that it's very empowering to know that through nutrition you can influence your child's later health."
