NUI Galway to offer cash prizes to prospective students
Students who get top points in their Leaving Certificate could now benefit from a cash prize.
Administrators at NUI Galway say they will give €2,000 to all students who apply to the university and achieve in excess of 560 points in their Leaving Cert.
The scholarships will be awarded automatically without the need to make a separate application.
Medical students will not be included in the programme. Instead, 10 special scholarships for those scoring the top 10 points based on combined results in the Leaving Cert and the admissions test.
The body said that the initiative is one of a series of scholarship schemes put in place by NUI Galway to help encourage academic success.
