North: Parties in fresh bid to agree committee chair
12/06/2006 - 08:08:33The North's political parties are due to meet again today in another effort to agree a chair for the Stormont committee set up to discuss a return to power-sharing.
An agreement could not be reached during three days of talks on the matter last week, with all other parties blaming the DUP for the impasse.
Several options had been put forward that would see the chair rotate between the various parties or between Sinn Féin and the DUP.
However, the unionist party has refused to cooperate with any system that would involve sharing the post with Sinn Féin.
