Noonan: Budget will be fair

The Finance Minister Michael Noonan has said next week's Budget will impact most on those who can afford it.

Mr Noonan made the comments after the Cabinet held a special meeting this morning to sign off on budget measures.

He said the budget is almost finalised, and people have an expectation that it will be difficult.

However he insists it will be fair.

Mr Noonan said: "People are expecting a very tough budget, I think that is the feel on the ground.

"But I want to assure everybody that, while we have to make the adjustments we have to make, it will be fair. It will be a fair budget impacting most on those who can afford it."
