Bloxham Stockbrokers has said the rate of unemployment is showing little sign of any improvement.

Bloxham Stockbrokers has said the rate of unemployment is showing little sign of any improvement.

In its latest economic outlook the firm also said problems outside of Ireland would impact on the Government's efforts to address the crisis.

It is forecasting the unemployment rate will average 14.3% this year falling to 14% next year and to 13.5% in 2013.

Bloxham's chief economist Alan McQuaid said tackling the jobs crisis would be a very slow process.

He said that if job prospects in other countries were getting worse, fewer people would emigrate from Ireland, meaning more people on the dole queues here.
