Fine Gael TD Nicky McFadden will be laid to rest in Athlone this afternoon.

The 51-year-old died on Tuesday after a two-year battle with motor neurone disease.

A funeral Mass for the Longford-Westmeath deputy will take place at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, in Coosan outside Athlone at midday. She'll be laid to rest afterwards in Coosan Cemetery.

Tributes have been pouring in all week from across the political spectrum.

The Longford-Westmeath TD had been diagnosed with with motor neurone disease in 2012.

Earlier in the week Taoiseach Enda Kenny was visibly upset as he led tributes to the mother of two.
