New poll shows slipping support for Labour; two-point gain for FG

A new opinion poll out tomorrow shows support for the Labour party slipping further, with more than half of Labour voters saying they are becoming disillusioned.

The Sunday Business Post Red C survey also shows increases in support for Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil.

This latest poll shows a two-point increase in support for Fine Gael in the past month. The party is now on 34% well ahead of the rest.

Fianna Fáil retains its place as the second biggest party in the country on 19% (up one point), with Labour slipping down one point to 13%

Sinn Féin are on 17%, down one point. Independents are also on 17%, down one point.

The poll will be most worrying for Eamon Gilmore as it shows that almost 60% of Labour voters believe the country is on the wrong track.

A third of them say they are losing faith in the party, and 52% of Labour voters claim they are becoming disillusioned, suggesting Labour support could drop further in the months ahead.
