New inspection regime for residential services
A new scheme of registration and inspection of residential services for people with disabilities is due to be announced today.
The programme will empower the Health Information and Quality Authority to investigate the safety and quality of the services being provided.
The Minister for Health Dr James Reilly and the Minister of State with responsibility for Disability, Equality, Mental Health and Older People Kathleen Lynch will announce details of the scheme at the Department of Health later this afternoon.
It's understood the programme will come into effect from November 1.
