A new facility is being built in north county Dublin to replace the Central Mental Hospital.

New hospital announced to replace Central Mental Hospital

A new facility is being built in north county Dublin to replace the Central Mental Hospital.

The hospital, which is being built near St. Ita's in Portrane, is due to open in 2018 with room for 120 patients.

There will also be a 10-bed child and adolescent facility in Portrane.

Intensive care rehab units are also being designed for Cork, Galway and Mullingar.
