New draft law published to change Local Government
The Environment Minister has published a new draft laws introducing sweeping changes to Local Government.
Under the Bill, the number of local authorities will be reduced from 114 to just 31, and councillors will be reduced from 1,627 to 949.
Town councils will be abolished by larger, municipal districts.
Local politicians have said it will reduce their ability to look after community issues.
