A fishing vessel has been detained off the south-east coast over alleged breaches of fishing regulations.

A fishing vessel has been detained off the south-east coast over alleged breaches of fishing regulations.

The LE Emer detained the Irish-registered boat around 19 nautical miles from Mine Head in Co Waterford yesterday evening.

The vessel was escorted to Cork and handed over to Gardaí in the early hours of this morning.

The Naval Service has carried out over 1,200 boardings and detained 17 vessels so far in this year.
