More than 100 councillors, and the Dáil's newest TD, have now been elected across the country as counting continues.
Fine Gael looks set to retain the Longford-Westmeath seat, with Gabrielle McFadden on course to hold the seat of her late sister Nicky. .
Sinn Féin is so far leading the charge in the counts, winning 38 of the local council seats filled so far. Independents and others have won 29 seats so far. Fianna Fáil has taken 19; Fine Gael 12 and Labour three.
There are still well over 800 seats to be filled all over the country. Labour will face decimation on many local authorities and struggle to get even the last seats in areas.
Counting of the European votes gets underway in the morning. Sinn Féin is on course to take three seats. Labour will be wiped out and Fine Gael could hold four of the 11 seats.
