National Lottery reveals where winning tickets were sold

The National Lottery has confirmed where the two winning tickets of last night's Lotto jackpot were sold.

The jackpot of €2m was won by two different people - meaning they will collect €1m each.

One of the winning tickets was sold in Pettit’s Supermarket in Gorey, Co Wexford.

Manager and co owner Keelin Ryan, said it was "exciting" to get the phone call from Lotto Headquarters telling then they had sold a winning ticket.

"It's fantastic news. We're all in a tizzy about it here in the shop," Ms Ryan said.

"We got a call from our lottery agent last night telling us we had sold one of the two winning tickets. The other one was sold somewhere in Wexford.

The 22-year old, who is a third generation of Ryan's to run the small shop located in a housing estate in Raheen on the south of the City, added: "It's just fantastic for the person who bought the ticket and it's great for us getting the publicity too.

"We're a small shop and we're in operation for the past 27 years. My grandmother Joanna Ryan, from Annacotty, first ran it and then it passed to my father Ray Ryan and my mother Tricia, and I came home from England six months ago to take up the reigns."

Speculation over who had bought the winning ticket was rife around the locality but the shop was unaware as to the identity of the lucky punter.

"We don't know who it is and they probably don't know themselves at this stage. We hope it's a local person.

"Everyone is checking their tickets. We've been especially busy today. It's created a great atmosphere in the community."

Ms Ryan said the ticket was purchased during the shop's 4pm-10pm shift on Friday.

"We're a very local shop located in a housing estate so we would hope it is someone living around here. I wouldn't say it's a passer by," Ms Ryan said.

"I'm hoping whoever bought the ticket will whisk me away on a holiday with them. I've my bags already packed in the office," she joked.

The shop has been a Lotto ticket agent since 1988 and according to and Ryan, "this is the biggest amount we have sold in the jackpot".

Locals are frantically checking their tickets hoping it could be them.
