Murder investigation under way following Bray death

A murder investigation is under way in Co Wicklow this evening following the death of a 50-year-old woman in Bray.

A 21-year-old man arrested this morning remains in Garda custody.

The body of a 50-year-old woman was found at a house in the Deepdales Estate on the Southern Cross Road in Bray in the early hours of this morning.

The Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis carried out a postmortem at at St. Columcille's Hospital in Loughlinstown this afternoon, the results of which are not being released for operational reasons.

Gardaí have confirmed, however, that the woman died under violent circumstances.

An incident room has been set up at Bray Garda Station and a Garda family liaison officer has been appointed in the case.

A technical and forensic examination of the scene is ongoing.

Investigating Gardaí are continuing to question a 21-year-old man at Bray Garda Station.
