Mullingar hospital uses copper handles to fight superbugs

A midlands hospital is introducing copper door handles in a bid to reduce the spread of superbugs.

The 140-bed St Francis Private Hospital in Mullingar says such surfaces can help prevent microbial contamination.

MRSA and C-diff are understood to die much more quickly when they come into contact with copper-based surfaces.
