The man who died in a motorcycle accident in Co Clare today was fundraising for an Irish charity when he was involved in the fatal collision.
The man has been named as Aidan Lynam, he was participating in an annual motorcycle fundraiser for Down Syndrome Ireland, called Rev-up4DSI when the collision involving a car and his motorbike occurred at around 11.45am just outside Kilkee.
Rev-up4DSI was the deceased man's brainchild, and this year was the 10th anniversary of the event, which has raised over €1.6 million for Down Syndrome Ireland.
"It is with inexpressible grief that we learned of the death today of our dear friend and colleague Aidan Lynam," said Deirdre Waldron on behalf of Down Syndrome Ireland.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with our dear friend and colleague, his wife Nikki and their three children, Robyn, Jake and Harry and all his loved ones," she added.
"Aidan was a much loved and valued senior member of our team at Down Syndrome Ireland, committed to his family and his work and all of our hearts are simply broken as we struggle to come to terms with this great loss," said Waldron.
