Motorcyclist death brings weekend total to five

A 30-year-old motorcyclist died following a road crash in Co Laois this afternoon.

A 30-year-old motorcyclist died following a road crash in Co Laois this afternoon.

The man was fatally injured when his motorcycle was in collision with a Kia Sorento, towing a horsebox.

The crash happened at about 3pm at Togher, Portlaoise.

The motorcyclist was rushed to Portlaoise General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His name has not yet been released.

The man's death is the fifth on Ireland's roads this weekend.
