Mother of three killed as she washed up
Gardai today appealed for information after a mother-of-three was found stabbed to death in her kitchen.
The body of Irene White, 43, was discovered yesterday by her 70-year-old mother in the home at Demesne Road, Dundalk, Co Louth.
Officers believe she may have been washing dishes at the kitchen sink before the incident took place.
It is understood she suffered a number of stab wounds to the chest.
Gardai were expected to officially launch a murder investigation later today after the final results of the post mortem being carried out by State Pathologist Prof Marie Cassidy were released.
Ms White was the separated mother of three daughters – Jennifer, 17, as well as Dairine and Damhan, who were both under 10-years-old.
She was last seen around 9am yesterday as she dropped the two youngest children at school.
Officers have renewed an appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 8.30am and lunchtime yesterday to come forward.
Gardai said that Ms White’s mother, Maureen McBride, who lives in a mobile home to the rear of the house, often visited for a cup of tea.
She discovered the body around lunchtime yesterday as she entered the house through the back door, which was often left open.
Forensic teams have been examining the scene since the body was discovered shortly after noon yesterday.
