Mother fails in legal challenge to school's admissions policy

The mother of a teenage boy has lost a legal challenge to a school's admission policy that she claimed indirectly discriminates against travellers.

Mary Stokes has gone to the High Court after a lower court ruled Christian Brothers High School in Clonmel is entitled to give priority enrolment to boys whose fathers were past pupils.

The High Court has found the policy affects everyone who is not the son of a past pupil and so does not place John Stokes at a particular disadvantage.
