Monkstown teenager to be sentenced for attempted murder

A south county Dublin teenager is to be sentenced today for the attempted murder of a 17-year-old who was stabbed six times in a late-night confrontation.

Tadhg Costello of Richmond Hill, Monkstown denied the charge but changed his plea to guilty mid-trial.

The 18-year-old now admits that he tried to murder Josh Leahy at Johnson's Court in Dublin city centre on May 31, 2012.

Mr Justice Paul Butler has asked for victim impact evidence to be prepared for today's sentencing hearing.
