Mixed welcome for Minister at nurses' conference11/05/2012 - 13:34:40
The Minister for Health has received a mixed response from nurses at the INMO's annual conference in Killarney.
In his address to around 360 nurses and midwives, James Reilly told delegates that Ireland is no longer in control of its own finances.
He said that the health budget is particularly under the troika's spotlight, as the second biggest item of government spending.
Minister Reilly also said he believed the relationship between nurses and the Department of Health had much improved.
Some delegates laughed when he said the Government accepted the INMO's "Trolleywatch" figures to track how many patients were on trollies in the country's hospitals.
