Mining firm hopeful of finding gold in Wexford

A mining company may have literally struck gold in Wexford.

The IMC Exploration Group has said it has identified a potential 6.5km long gold zone in one of its licencing areas in the county.

The company will continue to explore the area during the coming months.

Dr Glenn Millar, Managing Director of IMC, said: "We are delighted that successive drilling to date has continually reinforced the exploration potential of this licence area, culminating in the outlining of a potential 6.5km long zone of mineralization.

"IMC’s ambitious exploration programmes are consistently producing extremely positive results, allowing us to continue to expand our activity at an increased pace."

The company had recently been awarded the Avoca Mine licence, bringing to a total of four the number of explorations licence areas the company holds in Wicklow.
