Midwives at Mayo University Hospital to stage work-to-rule over staff shortage

Concern over staff shortages at Mayo University Hospital has prompted midwives to begin industrial action.

INMO members will stage a lunchtime protest at the Castlebar facility next Monday, amid claims a number of key positions have not been filled.

From Wednesday, December 7, midwives will begin a work-to-rule which will include a withdrawal from clerical and support duties.

INMO Industrial Relations Officer Anne Burke says that if no progress is made, members will proceed to a full withdrawal of labour.
