Midlands couple win €2.9m Lotto jackpot playing children's ages

A delighted Midlands couple collected their Lotto jackpot win of €2,905,586 at National Lottery offices today.

It was a share of the jackpot from Wednesday, June 10.

The other share of this jackpot was collected last week by a happy couple from Dun Laoghaire who planned to go on a "shopping spree in a Marks and Spencer's" store.

Today's winning couple, who want their identities to remain private, have been playing Lotto online since late 2014.

"I was fed up losing my tickets and forgetting to check them so I decided that playing online was the way to go – and I’m very glad I did," said the lucky husband over a glass of champagne in National Lottery offices.

"Our numbers were made up of our children’s ages, and a significant family event."

When asked how they plan to spend all that cash, the wife replied: "Looking after our family; and we’d love a really fun family holiday somewhere beautiful like the Seychelles, or the Maldives, somewhere with a private beach!

"And we’d also like to plan a trip to India."

Tomorrow night’s Lotto jackpot is an estimated €2.5m.
