Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae said today that he will deal with any potential offer of a ministry as it comes.
It has been suggested that Fine Gael is willing to make the Kerry TD Minister for Rural Affairs, as part of a minority Coalition Government.
Enda Kenny is trying to piece together a government made up of Fine Gael plus Independents and smaller parties.
Deputy Healy-Rae refused to say if he was interested in the role, but said he is not afraid of the work.
"Obviously, a politician has to deal with every situation that is thrown at them at every different stage of every different day, and all I'm saying is I'm not one bit afraid of working," he said.
"I know the issues that are out there, whether it's our rural post offices, whether it's GPs, whether it's rural broadband, there are many things that could actually be done to help rural Ireland that would actually not cost the State an awful lot of money."
