€350m worth of punts still unclaimed
01/01/2009 - 12:07:01New figures from the Central Bank suggest we are still holding onto over €350m worth of pre-euro currency.
Although the punt ceased to be legal tender in 2002 the Central Bank will still exchange notes and coin.
Spokesperson Alison O'Donnell says on average 150 people each week are in contact with the bank to change their old currency.
