A 14-year-old boy is recovering in hospital this morning after being shot outside a house in Waterford yesterday afternoon.

The boy sustained pellet wounds to his chest, arm and head after a shotgun was discharged at the house in the Ballybeg area.

He is said to be in a stable condition at Waterford Regional Hospital.

A burned-out car believed to have been used by the gunman was later discovered a short distance from Waterford.

The shooting is believed to be linked to an ongoing feud between rival Traveller families in Waterford.
