Flood clean-up cost could be as high as €100m
15/08/2008 - 07:17:12The cost of cleaning up following the recent flooding in many parts of the country could reportedly be as high as €100m.
Reports this morning say insurance companies are expecting a rash of claims in the next few weeks.
Many of the areas worst affected by the floods are in Dublin, where property costs are considerably higher than the rest of the country.
A leading firm of loss adjusters is reportedly estimating the cost at between €50m and €100m and is warning that insurance premiums will rise as a result.
Meanwhile, further heavy showers are being forecast for this weekend, with a risk of further flooding in areas where water levels are already high.
