Agriculture Minister says WTO deal is ‘unacceptable’
27/07/2008 - 10:18:02The Government says it still has 'serious reservations' about the deal being discussed at World Trade Talks in Geneva.
The negotiations, which have been extended in to next week, are an attempt to secure a new agreement that would allow developed and developing countries greater access to one another’s markets.
Ireland, France and Italy however are expressing concerns that some of the proposals relating to agriculture could threaten their farm industries.
Agriculture Minister Brendan Smith, who's at the negotiations, says the deal on the table is unacceptable at the moment.
