Loud music 'causes faster drinking'

It is thought that customers who socialise in bars that play loud music drink more quickly.

Researchers in France found that turning up the volume meant revellers downed a glass of beer about three minutes faster than usual.

They believe music makes conversation harder, forcing people to drink more and talk less.
