Aer Lingus workers walk out of meeting with Mannion

More than 100 Aer Lingus employees have walked out of a meeting called by the airline's chief executive, Dermot Mannion, today.

Mr Mannion had arranged the gathering at Dublin Airport to discuss the company's controversial cost-cutting plans.

However, workers staged a walkout to show their opposition to the plans.

Earlier this week, Mr Mannion sent a letter to Aer Lingus ground staff warning that they would be suspended if they took part in industrial action next week.

The ground staff are planning four-hour stoppages on Tuesday and Friday to protest against inferior contracts being introduced for new staff as part of the cost-cutting measures.
