Aer Lingus boss heckled at staff meeting
07/08/2007 - 15:03:57Aer Lingus chief executive Dermot Mannion was jeered and heckled this morning at a meeting to discuss the airline's plans to end its services between Shannon and Heathrow.
Mr Mannion was briefing staff at the airport about the move, which is expected to lead to up to 50 job losses.
The meeting lasted for more than an hour, but no firm details were given about the future of Aer Lingus jobs at Shannon.
Speaking afterwards, Mr Mannion said the company's plan to end the Shannon-Heathrow route was "a very difficult and sensitive commercial decision".
The valuable Aer Lingus slots at Heathrow will now be used for a new service from Belfast.
