Star gazers are in for a treat tonight as hundreds of shooting stars will light up the Irish sky.
Scientists say the Earth will plough through thick a cloud of dust that was left over from an asteroid - producing a strong shower of over 100 meteors per hour.
These meteors/shooting stars can easily be seen by the naked eye as they are usually very bright and slow moving.
Astronomy Ireland is running a Nationwide Meteor Watch and is asking members of the public to take part by counting how many they see in 15-minute blocks.
